The Ohio AAU Basketball winter season is about to crank up and the Ohio Kings AAU is ready to compete at a high level. All the Kings high level players will be to Compete. The kings are an AAU program based in dayton Ohio but they intend on getting quality players from all over the state of Ohio… They are featuring their 2024 team , which according to Buckey Prep Ranking report has 7 players ranked in the top 20 in Ohio… Delamarr Blanton, Javon Tank Vaughn and Michael Smith are all ranked in the top 10… Each grade level from 2028 to 2024 are expected to have outstanding teams… the Ohio Kings have stayed in the gym all summer and fall, training to get skilled…

Its a couple of schools of thought when it comes to playing games vs practicing. Some coaches and trainers feel Aau is all about winning and putting all the best kids together to win and play as much as possible. Doing this often cuts out Kids practicing skills and mostly practicing plays, sets and aggresive trapping defense that will help them win immediately . The argument for AAU is that it gets kids exposure because it’s where all the best talent is playing. Some of the tournaments attract kids from allover the country to meet up and battle. So if a child is good and they can play on a stage whose audience is college coaches… it makes since to personal train and play AAU. A lot of college coaches recruit from AAU Just as much or more than Highschool teams.

With all the different opinions about Aau verses Practice. The Ohio Kings feels like it’s best to balance and do both as much as possible. Aau Tournaments are normally on the weekend so practicing 2 or 3 days a week and Playing 2 days a week would probably be ideal for kids to develope skill and still play to get exposure.
